Now's not really the time for licking fingers...or anything, for that matter.

In light of COVID-19 risks, guidelines and regulations as outlined by the CDC and local governments, national fast food chicken chain KFC is temporarily suspending its slogan "It's Finger Lickin' Good." This will be the first time in 64 years that the restaurant has suspended use of its slogan.

"We find ourselves in a unique situation – having an iconic slogan that doesn’t quite fit in the current environment," USA Today quotes Catherine Tan-Gillespie, global chief marketing officer at KFC, in a statement. "While we are pausing the use of It’s Finger Lickin’ Good, rest assured the food craved by so many people around the world isn’t changing one bit.”

In its list of steps to prevent oneself and others from contracting coronavirus (or any other communicable disease), the CDC includes washing hands often and avoiding "touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands."

Needless to say, said KFC in its statement, using the slogan right now "doesn't feel quite right." It's not going away forever, but will come back "when the time is right." Back in June, KFC earned some harsh backlash from fans when they announced they would be taking the potato wedges off the menu.

We're not here to tell you what to do, but if you're going to finger lick, finger lick responsibly!
