There are now three Carrie Bradshaws sharing voices in the media and it’s beginning to sound like we’re thisclose to some curly hair pulling -- because the collective Carries Bradshaw are having a bit of a spat.

Candace Bushnell, who wrote the newspaper column on which 'Sex and the City' was based and could be considered the original Carrie, has responded to the comments Carrie 2.0 -- Sarah Jessica Parker, who made CB an icon -- made about Carrie 3.0. (That would be AnnaSophia Robb, who has become the face of CB in her high school years on 'The Carrie Diaries.')

In a recent interview, Parker was asked what she thought about 'The Carrie Diaries.' SJP did her best to be gracious, saying gently, “You know, I think it’s one of those tests of your generosity. [AnnaSophia] is a lovely girl and I want her to feel good about it, but it’s … odd.”

Bushnell, perhaps having seen the show's tepid ratings, didn't take too kindly to those comments, telling the Daily Beast, "The reality is, that's showbiz. Sarah Jessica's first part was somebody else's part. She played Annie on Broadway."

And when Candace was asked whether she thought there would be a third 'SATC' movie, she was pretty blunt:

"Look, Sarah Jessica Parker is 47. I think with the second movie, Carrie Bradshaw couldn't be an ingenue anymore. But I think they were stuck doing what the audience wanted. Realistically, a middle-aged woman who was married without children would be much more focused on her career and less focused on this Mr. Big: ‘Does he love me?' ... ‘Does he still not love me?' I mean, I think it was coming to the end of what they could do with the character."

Of course, Bushnell indicates that her preference for the second film would have had Carrie Bradshaw becoming Christine Quinn by suggesting, “If it were up to me, the second movie would have been Carrie Bradshaw decides to run for mayor and Samantha helps her.” (We're guessing she'd have reinstated smoking in public places and outlawed buying off-the-rack.)

And now we know what could really sell a third 'SATC' movie: Put all three Carries in a room together and see who comes out with all her extensions, the Manolo Blahniks and the Fendi bag.
