Customer Behavior Debate: Norsemen Lobster Food Truck Tip Incident

Tipping. Asking about who deserves a tip is almost as dangerous as discussing politics nowadays. It seems we have reached a critical junction when it comes to the tipping conversation and a recent post from a Minnesota food truck has brought about a new angle to tipping.

Norsemen Lobster, a food truck out of Southern Minnesota, was in Winona over the weekend serving up it's signature lobster rolls, and other delicious foods, when it posted to social media about a tip it had received.

Now the issue that surrounded this tipping post was not the amount of money left, or NOT left, but rather WHAT was left instead of money...they left a baggie of weed in the tip jar...for real. Check this out.

I know taking a very expensive meal to smaller cities can be hard for some to wrap their head around, but please try to not berate us for that. We run our food costs soo high and eat sales tax and cc fees just to give everyone no matter where they are from a great meal.

The great thing is that for every angry person emailing or messaging us there is at least 100x of you all giving us reviews, coming back for seconds, telling your friends they have to eat us, or even just as simple as liking or commenting on our posts and for that we thank you.

When in doubt try to make the world a better place, just like the mystery person who gave us some oregano for cooking purposes. Stay weird

Yup that looks to be the devil's lettuce inside a baggie, at least that's what I learned in DARE...

It's unclear if the person who left the tip, told the folks at Norsemen Lobster what they were dropping in the tip horn or if it was a surprise at the end of the day.

I'm not sure what the folks at Norsemen Lobster are going to do with the 'funny oregano' but maybe the next time they swing through Winona there will be a delicious new item on the menu inspired by this kind strangers gift.

With recreational marijuana being legal here in Minnesota, I don't think there is a 'legal' issue with this tip, as it also wasn't sold per see to the food truck.

This tip brings up a question, is tipping in pot a thing? And if it is, how much are you supposed to 'leave'?
