Are These “Target Birds” in Minnesota the New Stanley Cup?

We all saw the chaos that the Stanley Cups caused when they went on sale.  For some reason, everyone thought they had to have these cups.  They were selling out anywhere they were sold.  The only thing that I thought was cool about these cups as opposed to other insulated cups was the fact that they had a smaller bottom half that would fit into a cup holder.  But, by the way, there are other insulated cups you can buy.  Although if you want to pay more for the Stanley name, that's up to you.

Now, there are these stuffed birds at Target that people seem to go crazy over too.  They are these cute little stuffed birds. You can buy some for each season, but here's the deal... instead of being expensive, like the Stanley cups, these birds are at the bargain bin price of just $5.  I guess at that price people an afford to change them out for each season.

Loyal Target shoppers and devout fans of the store’s festive felt birds rise in the wee hours of the morning in an attempt to snag one of the $5 fabric figurines online before they sell out — again.

You could also relate this to the craze in the 90s with the Beanie Babies that wee supposed to be worth a ton of money... eventually.  But really, that didn't happen with the exception of a few of the babies.

Could that happen...maybe.  And if not, you might just have a collection of these cute little felt birds to put out during each season.  For $5 I could be talked into buying a few.  That is, if they aren't sold out by the time I get there. They may also only be available online through Target's website.
