Apollo Eagle’s Star Won’t Play In State Tournament

St. Cloud Apollo boys basketball coach Dean Kessler said Monday senior point guard Ibrahim Abukar will not play Wednesday  in the State Tournament.  Abukar had  surgery this morning to extract bone marrow to give to his 13-year old sister who’s in need of a transplant. Kessler said he hopes Abukar will be healthy enough to attend the game and he didn’t rule Abukar out for the entire tournament.  If Apollo wins Wednesday they will play the Waconia/Grand Rapids winner at 2pm Thursday and the Class 3A State Championship game is at 6pm Saturday.  Apollo plays Orono at 4pm Wednesday, and you can listen to the game on our big brother station, AM 1240 WJON, pre-game starts at 3:55.
