Winter break is on the horizon for Central Minnesota kids. The weather is looking really great for spending some quality time outside with highs in the 20's and 30's and partly cloudy skies through the end of the year. To me it sounds like awesome sledding weather.

Growing up in Long Prairie, the go to sledding place was Water Tank Hill. It was the hill that the water tower sits on. It has an awesome tree free clearing for sledding down at top speeds. It's awesome. But where is the best sledding around the St. Cloud area?

Calvary Hill Park

There is a great sledding hill at this park located off of Cooper Ave. Shade from trees along the sledding hill also helps to keep the snow longer into the warmer months of the winter season.

Riverside Park

Another great tree-free hill that offers high speed sledding. Riverside park is also a great place for cross country skiing in the winter months. The park is located across the Mississippi River from SCSU.

Sauk Rapids High School

Yep. Sledding at the high school. There are some great hills near the school that offer great sledding, and even some snowboarding and skiing in the winter months.

North Side Park

Located in Sartell, there is a gigantic sledding hill. Plenty of room for everyone to ride. This park is located on 12th street North Sartell.

Val Smith Park

Not only is there a small but speedy sledding hill, Val Smith also offers ice skating and hockey rinks. You have to bring your own skates, but this park really offers something for everyone in the family. The park is on 1st Street NE in Sartell.
