Kids can't wait for summer vacation to arrive.  But once it's here, it always seems that boredom sets in.  How do you avoid those watch TV or play video game days?  Here's a list of ideas, that you can have "pre-planned" for the summer. If you're prepared for the long summer days and nights, you can make this a summer your children will never forget.

IDEA NUMBER 1:   MAKE A FORT

Make a fort out of cardboard boxes.  Are you kidding? For my boys, boxes have always been as equally fun as the toys that came in them.  Sometimes even more fun! Get the boxes out and see what the kids can create!  It's cheap...It's an easy clean up...and lots of creative energy that's mental as well as physical.

IDEA NUMBER 2:   MAKE A PHOTO JOURNAL OR FAMILY YEARBOOK

During the regular year, who really has time to scrapbook?  Why not do this fun activity with your kids?  They are super creative, and love glue, scissors, and making things. Put their minds to work with this fun family activity.

IDEA NUMBER 3:   HAVE A PICNIC

Whether you put together some peanut butter sandwiches and apple slices, or carrots and juicy boxes, there's nothing like spending some quality time outside together over some tasty food at a family picnic.  For something a little different, take it to a scenic place at a state park, or city park.  Enjoy a local playground, or if you just can't get away, take your picnic to a quaint spot in your backyard.  Put up and umbrella or set up under a shade tree.  Bring a frisby.  Taking some time out to spend together outside doesn't have to be all day...just this little break can brighten everyone's day.
