It's not exactly Marty McFly's hoverboard, but it's a start.

A company has SORT OF invented a HOVERBOARD like the one MICHAEL J. FOX rides in "Back to the Future 2" and they're using Kickstarter to raise $250,000 to develop the technology even further.

At the moment, the thing actually works, but there are drawbacks. First of all, it only works on a metallic surface . . . so you can't just randomly ride it around town, over water or anything cool like that.

Also, it only hovers three-quarters of an inch off the ground, the battery only lasts A FEW MINUTES, and it makes an incredibly loud, high-pitched noise.

Not perfected, yet... but still, it hovers and you can actually ride it. It's called the Hendo Hoverboard.

Marty McFly... he had a hoverboard.
