This morning, Chad and I read an article that said 78% of women say they've made some big changes to the way they dress now that they are mothers.  Short skirts, high heels, skinny jeans, crop tops and low cut shirts topped the list.  My question is:  Why?

I used to perform as a singer,  and short skirts, skinny jeans and crop tops were all a big part of my wardrobe.  Did I stop wearing these things because I became a mother, and decided that they were now inappropriate to wear?  No!  I stopped wearing them because I couldn't wear them anymore...I looked ridiculous.  I kept all of my skinny clothes hoping that one day I'd be back in them, but I'm still waiting.

Some women claim that after they have children, they feel it's inappropriate to dress in clothes like that. Well.... I wasn't ashamed to dress in clothes that I enjoyed back then, and I'm not ashamed to wear the clothes I wear now...my body just changed.  My chest grew three sizes, my waist moved up, and my hips moved out!  I think the point of the survey was to say that these women stopped wearing these clothes because they are now "inappropriate" to wear as a mother.  Really?  The list didn't include anything outrageous in my book:

Bikini's, shorts, tight dresses, leather, animal prints?  Are you kidding?  If I could wear them, I would!  It just doesn't look the same.  There are plenty of women that actually still wear these things, and don't mind that their bodies are heavier than they used to be. I don't like skinny jeans and tight shirts hugging what I consider to be my "unflattering" areas.

I guess it's what you're comfortable with.  If I was able to wear them, I'd like them with a nice pair of boots and a matching purse.  Right now, I'll settle for a comfortable pair of tennis shoes to chase my kids, and comfortable pants that get me where I need to be.
