The Tri-County Humane Society has an awesome program that will teach your kids the value of volunteering and also help them with their reading. The Book Buddies Reading Program allows your child to go to the Tri-County Humane Society and read books and stories to the animals that are in their care.

Have a kid that loves animals and loves to read? Or one that needs more practice reading out loud? The animals at the Tri-County Humane Society are a great audience and awesome listeners! Plus they benefit from the interaction with your kids!

If you are interested in becoming a Book Buddy, the registration fee is $5 per household, and is intended for kids ages 5-15 but anyone is welcome as long as they follow the guidelines. Everyone must attend a 30 minute orientation before beginning the program, and designated reading hours are 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays.

If you want more information on how to get involved in the Book Buddies Reading Program visit the Tri-County Humane Society website or call Kate Kompas, Volunteer & Humane Education Coordinator, at (320) 252-0896 Ext. 27.
