Things to Do with the Family when Stuck Inside in Minnesota
I always try and think of some ways to be entertained while you might be stuck inside during a snowstorm, or when it's just too darn cold to go outside and do much of anything, other than the essentials.
So, here are some ideas on what to do during winter break when everyone is at home with a lot of time on their hands, and the Christmas holiday is over.
LET'S HAVE A FAMILY GAME NIGHT
This seems kind of nostalgic, but also a lot of fun. Some people can get pretty competitive. And has anyone actually ever finished a game of Monopoly? Usually someone gets upset and the board goes flying, or it gets boring and players just quit.
HOW ABOUT A COZY MOVIE NIGHT
This is awesome. With so many movies to stream now on several different services, and even family oriented channels, picking a family friendly movie can involve the whole family choosing a genre, and then play "your turn to pick".
HAVE A BAKING DAY/NIGHT FAMILY EDITION
Make up a bunch of new baking ideas. If it's before Christmas, fun cookie ideas, after the holidays, get creative with some other things like pizza and/or a dessert concoction. Then everyone has to try whatever someone else made.
DRIVE AROUND AND SEE EVERYONES HOLIDAY DISPLAYS
This can be such a fun activity with a relaxing feel. Some people go all out for the holidays and those displays are meant to be seen. So it's not at all weird to go traveling around to various neighborhoods to see everyone's holiday displays. Most people leave them up through January too.
