One sure sign of spring in St. Cloud is the reopening of Red Barn Dairy Queen on Highway 10 for the season.

Typically, the Dairy Queen reopens at the end of January...at least, that's when they reopened last year. But, it's February now and here we are...ice cream-less. The restaurant is still listed as 'closed now' on Facebook.

So, what's the deal? Well, if you remember, the former owners, Lori and Virgil,  announced their retirement this last November after 29 years in business via their Facebook page.

So many people have been left wondering what the future holds for the beloved DQ. There is good news to report. On December 4, 2020 they had a Facebook update looking for help to manage the DQ.

"Looking for someone to manage this DQ. Great salary and health care. Restaurant management is a must. Email me dqflock356@yahoo.com with contact information."

So it seems as though they're in the process of getting the DQ back up and running.

One week ago Brenda Duffy commented on the Facebook post asking, "Are you opening soon?" Brenda's question went unanswered.

For now, we're all waiting. The best answer we can give you is that hopefully it'll be soon. One thing is for sure, when they're open again, we'll all know it because we won't be able to stop ourselves from spreading the good news on social media!
