Water Lantern Festival Returning to Minnesota In September
Nominated by USA Today as one of the best cultural festivals, the Water Lantern Festival will be returning to Minnesota on September 5th, 2020. The St. Paul stop will be at Lake Phalen.
Water Lantern Festival is more than just an event, it's an experience. At Water Lantern Festival, we bring everyone together to create an atmosphere of hope, unity, love, and happiness.
The event gets started around 4:30 pm when gates open, lantern designing happens around 6:30 pm, and the lantern launch gets started around 8 pm.
Each adult ticket into the event includes:
- Floating lantern to launch on the water/marker to decorate
- Commemorative drawstring bag
- A scavenger hunt giveaway entry.
- Wristband for entry into the event that features food trucks
Cost of tickets depends on if you want ticket protection or not. Ticket protection protects your purchase from unforeseen circumstances like bad weather or a last minute issue. Tickets range in price from $11.99 for a kids ticket to the $64.99 date night package.
Launching a bunch of lanterns onto a lake doesn't sound that great for the environment, but all lanterns are 100% eco-friendly and are made from wood and rice paper). They will be completely cleaned up after the event by the festival staff.
Don't feel like driving to St. Paul for this festival, but really want to go? They are looking to do one in St. Cloud too. You can go to their website and sign up for emails to be notified when that event becomes available.
I have my fingers crossed that the St. Cloud stop happens this year. I would love to have something like this happen yearly at Lake George.
