Watch The SCSU Dome Come Down For The Season

You've probably seen the huge Husky dome if you've driven by St. Cloud State University over the winter months. It's huge and it's pretty hard to miss.

As you can probably imagine, it's not exactly easy to take it down for the summer. No, in fact, it's quite difficult and it requires a whole team of volunteers to make sure the process is somewhat smooth. Oh, and when I say a team of volunteers, I mean like a football team of people...seriously.

It's a pretty fun process to watch playout though. St. Cloud State University's athletics department was able to capture video footage of the dome coming down for the season. Luckily for us, it's on YouTube. If you've ever wondered what goes into taking it down, now you can watch it unfold in a new time-lapsed video that's less than 2 minutes long.

In the video, based on the position of the sun throughout the clip, you can tell that it took many hours to take down the dome. The volunteer crew started early in the morning just as the sun was coming up. You can watch the whole thing unfold as the weather turns from sunny to cloudy, back to clear with blue skies and cloudy again.

It was a LONG, labor intensive process. At first, it kind of looked like a giant marshmallow deflating after being in the microwave. By the end of the video it looks like a tiny tarp being folded and carried off the field. Like I said, it's pretty neat. Check out the video and see for yourself!
