Bring the kids to Como Park Zoo & Conservatory this MEA weekend for an extra special visit.

Following the birth of Como Zoo's baby giraffe last month, zoo staff have narrowed down 100 submitted names to a final three -- Elliot, Fonzie and 'Sota. This weekend -- Friday, October 18 through Sunday, October 20 -- visitors to the zoo will get to vote for the final name.

According to Como Zoo's website, the name Elliot is a nod to the movie E.T.; according to some, the baby giraffe had an "uncanny resemblance" to the alien character. Fonzie is a nod to the Happy Days sitcom character by the same name. “The giraffe is ultra-cool, just like the Fonz,” read one submission ballot. 'Sota is a nod to...well...the state he was born in. This particular baby is also likely the only 6’ 4”, 160 lbs baby ever born in Minnesota.

Ballot boxes will be stationed around Como during MEA weekend for visitors to pick one of the three names. Voting will end at 4pm Sunday, October 20, and the winning name will be announced on Como’s social media pages the following day Monday, October 21.

Plan a trip to Como Zoo & Conservatory this weekend and let your kids pick a name for the baby giraffe!
