Update: Sauk Rapids Squad Car Involved in Crash During Chase

SAUK RAPIDS -- An update to that police chase that we  first told you about Monday. A Sauk Rapids squad car was involved in a car crash while responding to the chase.

Chief Perry Beise tells WJON news that the crash happened at the intersection of Benton Drive and 2nd Street North on Saturday afternoon. Beise says the officer was responding with lights and sirens. No one was hurt in the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol is conducting the accident investigation.

The police chase began on Saturday afternoon around 3:15 on Highway 15 in Sartell when an officer spotted a car that had been stolen out of Coleraine, Minnesota. Thirty-two-year-old Shawn Iees of Sauk Rapids was arrested.
