There's an unclaimed $1 million winning Mega Millions ticket waiting for its owner to claim it. The ticket was sold at a Speedway store located at 1847 Johnson Street North East, Minneapolis on June 9.

Winners technically have one year from the end date of the game to redeem their winnings. Otherwise, you lose out on the money. How horrible would it be to realize you won a $1 million prize the day after the expiration date?! So, the moral of the story is, check you ticket AND don't sit on it.

Maybe the winner hasn't claimed the prize because they don't know how. If that's the case, here's what you need to do.

If your prize is over $50,000 (which this one is), you should claim the prize at the Roseville headquarters since the executive order has closed the lottery's regional offices. You need to call the Minnesota Lottery first at 1-888-568-8379 or 651-635-8273 to talk about your options. Dude, it's a million dollars. I'd drive the ticket to the headquarters myself with a security detail following me just to make sure it got there safely.

If you're wondering how much you'd get after taxes, there's a 31.25 percent federal withholding tax deducted for every lottery prize over $5,000 (and this is). So, you'd get a lump sum of approximately $687,500. I'm not complaining about a prize like that if I'm the winner. That's life changing!
