Twin XL Talks with Mix 94.9 at Varsity Theater in Minneapolis
A couple years ago we featured a band called The Summer Set in our New Music Flip or Flop. That band has since broke up, (leaving a gigantic hole in my heart) but from it came my latest obsession, Twin XL.
Cameron Walker, John Gomez, and Stephen Gomez have known each other for years, originally meeting when The Summer Set played a show close to Minnesota in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Cameron was playing in a band called Linden based out of Menomonie, and Stephen and John's band played a show with them. After years of friendship and saying, "let's write songs together" they finally did and Twin XL was born.
Twin XL has been a band for roughly four months now, and are out on their very first tour opening up for The Mowgli's and Jukebox the Ghost. The show made a stop in Minnesota on Monday at the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown, and they had the crowd GOING. It was the best opening band I have seen in a very long time.
If you missed that show you can catch my post show interview with John and Cameron below, and keep those fingers crossed, because it sounds like they might be back to Minnesota yet this year!
Follow Twin XL on Twitter here, and check out their new EP "How to Talk to Strangers"! My favorites on the EP are "Friends" and "Everybody's Talkin'".
