This Historic Minnesota DQ Just Made A Big Announcement
With temps across Minnesota still well below zero, the last thing many of us are thinking about is cool treats like Dilly Bars, Buster Bars, and those iconic Blizzards that Dairy Queen serves up. Well, that normally is the case, except when we are talking about one of the most famous DQs in all of North America, the Dairy Queen in Moorhead.
Moorhead's historic Dairy Queen is known for introducing the world to the Dilly Bar. Of course, the Moorhead location has marked that milestone, by erecting a giant Dilly Bar statue that sits just outside the walk-up DQ building. Well that Historic Moorhead DQ has made a big announcement, and it's got quite a few people talking about ice cream during a brutal cold snap.

The Moorhead DQ announced it's opening day, which is just about 2 weeks away, and even if we are looking at a cold great day, people will still be lined up for a taste of summer.
That's right March 1st Moorhead's historic Dairy Queen will open for the season!
According to the Moorhead Dairy Queen's website, the store is significant not only to the city of Moorhead but also to Dairy Queen itself.
"The Moorhead Dairy Queen was opened in 1949 by Bob and Phyllis Litherland as one of the original stores in the Dairy Queen system. Bob and Phyllis combined their passion for ice cream and handmade treats with their love for the city of Moorhead, MN and her people."
Troy and Diane DeLeon now operate the historic DQ, and every year on March 1st they open the business back up.
"Regardless of the weather in Moorhead that day, smiles are being served under the world’s largest Dilly Bar at the corner of 8th Street and Main Avenue!"
I know nothing that puts a smile on a Minnesotan's face faster than the offer of a Dilly Bar.
