I've had a great few months on my weight loss journey. Why? Because I'm finally losing weight. Not only that, I'm gaining muscle in pounds, AND losing weight! How? Below is the secret that is working for me.

I've finally been losing weight. How? A combination of these three things:

  • Getting enough protein each day.
  • Getting my hormones in balance.
  • Exercise.

PROTEIN POWDER IS MY FRIEND

Protein powder schmowder.  When I started drinking protein shakes a few months ago twice a day, my young sons were like....ugh..poor mom...she has to drink her meals.

Well surprise to them! The protein shakes that mom drinks actually make me feel pretty darn good. It seems as healthy products become more popular, the taste factor has improved considerably. In reality, I'd rather have one of my protein shakes, than heading out for a milkshake. They taste great, there are a million different flavor options, and they provide a super simple solution to getting in the 46 grams of protein that we should each be getting in every day (56 for men). It's usually a great blend of additional vitamins and minerals that your body needs, too. Protein shakes make me energized, cut down my cravings for sugary foods and snacks, replenishes muscles, and aids in weightloss.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR FAST FOOD APPOINTMENT

So I still go out for fast food, but I've changed the location. Almost every day, I have that auto response to go get fast food. I've found a place called Waite Fusion that is my fast food fix. I drive over every day at lunch, and for under $8 I pick up a healthy flavorful shake of my choice, a cup of tea, and a shot of aloe. I do this almost 5 days a week. It's cheaper than eating out, and I'm getting all of my cravings satisfied.

EXERCISE TWICE A WEEK AND A LITTLE BIT AT HOME...JUST A LITTLE!

I work out twice a week with my trainers Kylie and Tanner at Rejuv Medical. I can't tell you how great it is to have someone to talk you through a work out. Someone that cares about your well being, and will be there with you every step of the way. The work outs go by fast, and my Trainers change it up every day. YES!  WE HAVE FUN!

THEY KEY TO MY WEIGHT LOSS EQUATION

I don't think I can emphasize enough to women who have gone through or are going through menopause; your hormones or lack there of will either help you or keep you from losing weight. I've been trying to lose weight for two years. My Trainers at Rejuv told me that I should have my blood drawn to check on different things: hormone and vitamin deficiencies, and general health.  I visited with Julie at Rejuv's clinic and we talked about the different tests; took tests, and she gave me her advice. It's working. Now I'm excited.

We increased my Vitamin D intake, probiotics, iron, testosterone, progesterone, and so much more. I look like I'm taking 20 pills a day, but most of it is just healthy vitamins and minerals along with a healthy probiotic, thyroid boosters and a few more. The result? Weight loss that I haven't seen in years.

I STILL CHEAT....!

What's the difference between before and after? First of all, I eat good food most of the time...but I'm not gonna lie. I still have an occasional donut, or coffee. I suggest if you are a woman in your 40-50's....and you can't lose weight...That you stop beating your head against the wall. If your hormones are out of wack you won't lose no matter what you do. Keep active anyway, but find a way to get the help you need. I feel better than I have in years!
