The second annual Twin Cities Summer Jam will take place at Shakopee's Canterbury Park this July 25-27.

The Twin Cities Summer Jam music festival is in the running for Best Emerging Festival by USA Today. The contest is determined entirely by reader's choice votes, with Summer Jam currently (as of writing) sitting in the lead.

"Each year, more and more festivals join the calendar across North America," reads the USA Today article. "From music festivals to food festivals, these 20 events represent some of the most promising to emerge in the last five years."

Readers can vote for their favorite festival once per day through Monday, March 2. The top 10 winning festivals will be announced Friday, March 13.

Twin Cities Summer Jam is joined by music/ski festival Powabunga Music FestivalDreamville Music Festival in Raleigh, NC; Lights Festival which takes place in cities around North America; celebration of underground culture Secret Project festival in LA; and One Love Cali Reggae Fest in Long Beach, CA.

Last year's inaugural Twin Cites Summer Jam saw acts like Rascal Flatts, REO Speedwagon, Tim McGraw, Buckcherry, Pitbull and Soul Asylum performing, as well as some "teething issues" as Bring Me the News put it when Aerosmith's Steven Tyler threatened not to perform and called the crowd the “worst [bleeping] crowd in the last 10 years."

This year's lineup includes Pitbull, the Zac Brown Band and Carrie Underwood as headliners as well as Nelly, Third Eye Blind, Blanco Brown and local acts Chris Hawkey and The Fabulous Armadillos. Tickets for the three-day music festival at Canterbury Park are available here.
