Special Olympics Minnesota is asking you to do something I feel is neat. They’re asking you to send a message to their athletes ahead of their events later this month. I like this because this is an opportunity to pass along some encouraging words to these athletes who work so hard to compete and they look forward to it so much.

Just click on the link and you can send a note of encouragement that will be shared with the athletes. I used to interview a Special Olympics Athlete named Troy when I worked in Virginia, and he would just beam with pride when we would talk about the games he participated in.

Troy also talked about how he enjoyed the practices to get ready for those games.

Speaking of the games, there’s a full schedule of events that you can support in other ways too. You can become a volunteer; I wrote about this last month. You can also donate money to help support the games and the dreams of these athletes.

This Saturday there is a Bocce Competition in Alexandria from 9am until 2pm at the Northstar Sports Complex.

Next Saturday there is a regional softball event in Prior Lake from 9am until 4pm. This event will be held at the Ponds Athletic Complex.

Next Sunday, July 20th, there will be another regional softball event this time in Coon Rapids. This event will run from 7am-4pm at the Sand Creek Park complex.

For more details, Special Olympics Minnesota has all the information you need to show your support.
