The City of St. Cloud says you should not put your recyclables into plastic bags. Plastic bags are not recyclable. Certain plastics like toys, hangers, etc. can't go in the recycling. You also can't recycle bubble wrap, Styrofoam, electronic cords and milk cartons. Check out the list below of the products you can't recycle according to Republic Services. 

You can't recycle these items:

  • Appliances
  • Batteries
  • Bubble wrap
  • Christmas lights
  • Coat hangers
  • Diapers
  • Electrical cords
  • Food waste
  • Food wrap
  • Garden hoses
  • Plastic bags
  • Polystyrene
  • Rubber balls
  • Sports equipment
  • Stuffed animals
  • Syringes & razor blades
  • Waxed cartons
  • Wood & yard waste

In fact, if your cart contains any of the aforementioned items and they catch you, you might not get your recycling picked up. By request, you can get your cart emptied but it'll cost you $20.
