St. Cloud’s Lincoln Avenue Road Construction Start Date Announced
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- Work crews will start a major road construction project in East St. Cloud on Monday, June 23rd.
Lincoln Avenue Southeast is being reconstructed and resurfaced from 7th Street SE to the northern city limits.
The project will have five phases as the city works to keep access open to all of the businesses during construction.
Assistant City Engineer Luke Langner says one of the challenges of this project was how to get a sidewalk installed on the east side of the road without encroaching on businesses and moving power poles in the area...
We are going to narrow up that section from curb to curb. It's going to get narrower by about eight feet. It does a couple of things...it's a traffic calming measure, but it also does allow space for a sidewalk and not impacting existing private property or existing utilities because there are power poles along that corridor and not room to move it.
The project will be done in five different phases.
The first phase will be from 7th Street SE to 4th Street SE and will include a new water main and storm sewer.
The second phase will be from 4th Street SE to 1st Street SE and also include a new water main and storm sewer.
The third phase will be from 1st Street SE to East St. Germain Street and include a new water main and storm sewer.
The fourth phase will be force main work on the north end of the project in conjunction with the city of Sauk Rapids.
The fifth phase will be a mill and overlay from East St. Germain Street to the northern city limits.

The $4.2-million project is scheduled to be completed at the end of October.
