ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud VA will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony tomorrow (Thursday) for their new Rehabilitation Center.

The 19,000 square-foot facility offers expanded treatment areas, state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment, and more private treatment spaces for veterans.

St. Cloud VA spokesman Barry Venable says the facility is an upgrade from the tight spaces currently used for rehabilitation services.

"Our previous facility was not built for rehabilitation services, we have made due as long as we can and now we are able to move into a facility that our veterans deserve," says Venable.

The facility will initially provide Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapy. However, Venable says there is another phase of the project which should be finished within the next year.

"When the building is finally completed, it will also include a Low Vision Clinic, Spinal Cord Clinic and an Independent Living Skills apartment where we can teach veterans activities of daily living so they can support themselves," says Venable.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Rehabilitation Center (building 116).

The Rehabilitation Center is one of several renovations the St. Cloud VA campus has been doing. Last year, the VA set a new record by seeing more than 39,000 patients.
