ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud Police arrested two people after a police pursuit through St. Cloud and Sauk Rapids Tuesday night.

Police say around 10:00 p.m. an officer was making a routine traffic stop, but as the vehicle started to pull over, the driver started to speed away from the scene.

The driver, 35-year-old Andrew Morton of Mora led police on a 7-and-a-half mile chase before officers used a pursuit interruption technique. During the chase, Morton was seen throwing baggies out of the vehicle.

Morton and his passenger 31-year-old Stephanie Gregor of Mora were both taken into custody. Authorities say a search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine and materials used to package drugs.

Morton was taken to the Stearns County Jail on charges of 4th degree DWI, fleeing police, and 2nd degree drug charges. Gregor told officers she had swallowed some of the meth and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital.

Charges are pending for her on 2nd degree drug charges and possession of a hypodermic needle.
