Munsinger Clemens Botanical Gardens made Explore Minnesota's list of "18 Free Things to Do in Minnesota."

With spring here and summer on the way, Minnesota's tourism department Explore Minnesota compiled a list of 18 free attractions and activities fun for the whole family.

St. Cloud's very own Munsinger Clemens Botanical Gardens made the list!

This well-known, beautiful garden park is located along the Mississippi River in St. Cloud. The Munsinger portion of the gardens began in the 1880s. The gardens have experienced different stages of development, with many of the improvements coming as a result of work during the Great Depression through the WPA. The Clemens portion is dedicated to different varieties of roses. During the summer, there are free music concerts within the gardens.

The Gardens is actually two gardens that sit adjacent -- the Munsinger Gardens and Clemens Gardens.

The Munsinger Gardens is an informal garden of 14 acres dating back to the 1930's though some refurbishing and expansion was done in the '80s. The Clemens Gardens is composed of six distinct garden styles comprising seven acres and dating back mostly to the 1990's. Both gardens are free to visit and and open everyday from Spring to Fall from 7:00am to 10:00pm. Various photography, music and art events are also held in The Gardens, which you can find more details on here.

The Munsinger Clemens Gardens joins a great list of other free Minnesota attractions and sites including the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway in Minneapolis, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Como Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul, Superior Hiking Trail on the North Shore, Franconia Sculpture Garden in Shafer, Red Wing Shoe Co. Museum in Red Wing and Paul & Babe in Bemidji.
