St. Cloud Area Farmers Market Wraps Up at the End of October
Get that freshly grown produce while you can, the St. Cloud Farmers Market wraps up at the end of October.
The farmers market sets up in the Lady Slipper Parking Lot (Intersection of Hwy 23 and 6th Ave S) Saturdays 8 AM-Noon, May through October. The St. Cloud Farmers Market was originally established in 1984:
The St. Cloud Farmers Market features local growers, bakers and other producers with a wide variety of vegetables, meats, dairy products, baked goods, plants, cut flowers, maple syrup, honey, berries, and other locally grown goods.
If you are hitting up a farmers market in October, here are a few seasonal foods that are at their peak this time of year:
- Bitter Melon
- Broccoli and Cauliflower
- Brussels Sprouts
- Various Greens and Herbs
- Root vegetables like Onions, Parsnips, Potatoes, Carrots, Rutabagas, Radishes, and Turnips.
- Squash and Pumpkins
Fruit and veggies aren't the only things for sale at this market. This year they welcomed Daydream Coffee, Jupiter Moon Ice Cream, Pottery by Kelly Marie Santini, Farmstead, Artisan Cheese, and Artisan Naan Bakery.
One of my favorite things to hunt down at a farmers market is a local honey vendor. There is no real scientific proof that local honey helps curb seasonal allergies, but it's all I use and my allergies have been the calmest they have been since I started. It's all about what works for each person individually. Plus I like knowing where my food comes from.
