As students plan to head back to school, St. Cloud has finalized their health and safety plan for the academic year. St. Cloud School District ISD 742 posted their plans online. Here's what St. Cloud students can expect for the year ahead.

  • Parents are highly encouraged to take their child's temperature before school daily. (Temps more than 100.4 should not come to school)
  • At school, masks will be required. Masks are also required on the bus.
  • Students will have their temperatures taken before entering the school building.
  • School start up and dismissal times will vary to break up hallway traffic.
  • The school will designate students to a specific entrance to help breakup traffic.
  • Parents and visitors will be heavily limited.
  • Employees who aren't able to wear a mask for health reasons are to make an 'accommodation request' to human resources. Students who can't wear a mask for health reasons are asked to reach out to Student Services.
  • The school will be disinfected daily.
  • Drinking fountains will be disabled.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided throughout the school.
  • Room furniture may be removed for extra social distancing space.
  • Students are discouraged from sharing materials unless absolutely necessary...in that case, they'll need to be disinfected first.

The district also has a four step action plan in the case someone does become ill with COVID-19.

Tier 1: Increased daily disinfecting: This is what normal operating will look like. Common and high traffic areas will get priority with daily disinfecting.

Tier 2: Building wide disinfection with a suspected COVID case: Possible affected areas will be shut down to allow a cleaning team to properly disinfect surfaces and common areas.

Tier 3: Positive COVID-19 immediate clean & disinfection: If a student or staff member has a positive case of COVID-19, a cleaning team will be hired to disinfect areas where that person has been.

Tier 4: Multiple positive cases building wide: The building will be disinfected and the district will seek guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health.

Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 include;

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or trouble breathing
  • Chills
  • Diarrhea, vomiting or nausea
  • Sore throat
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Muscle pain
