I love it when you get a little laugh in a really unexpected place.

Over the weekend I was getting gas at The Junction in Grey Eagle, and when I went in to get a coffee, I noticed something was written on the snow shovel sitting by the door. I completely expected it to say something simple like "Property of The Junction" or have a phone number on it, but what it actually said was so much better.

The front of the shovel reads:

For use only by trainded Junction empooyees.

The back was even better, saying:

Don't steal me cause I'm pretty, don't steal me cause I'm new.

I don't know if there has been a shovel thieving spree in the area, but I think these unique messages wouldn't be easy ones to cover up if it were a stolen piece of property and the cops were looking for it. Also, pointing out that it takes "special training" to operate it is another way to deter a thief.

What I do know is that seeing this shovel was a huge bright spot for me. I've been thinking about it all weekend for no reason other than it made me smile. And if I hadn't stopped to do something as mundane as getting gas and a coffee, I wouldn't have seen it. I might be making more of this than it really was, but I'm seeing this as a lesson in trying to see more of the fun in my everyday life. It can become so tedious to go through the motions, but I'm going to try to find the lighter side of it all.
