School picture day has become a tradition.  Not because people look forward to it, but mostly because of how terrible the pictures usually turn out.

One mother is saying it's time we end it.

Annabel Monaghan, mother to three sons, argues that with smartphones and digital cameras, parents have so many pictures of their kids already that school photos don't seem necessary.

The picture day photos of my children are honestly the worst photos that they take all year. Sit on this stool, lean a little forward, tilt your head up toward the ceiling while keeping your eyes on me, the stranger who just combed your hair in a direction it’s never gone before…. Say cheese! They often end up with an expression that suggests they’ve recently been punched in the kidneys.

What do you think?  Do you think school pictures are outdated?  Do you think this is a needless routine that needs to be done with?  Or do you feel like there are fun memories behind taking school pictures?

And just for fun, here's one of my gems.
