Valentine's Day who? We don't know her. The only holiday that matters is St. Patrick's Day, because with it comes the Shamrock Shake. In a press release, McDonald's shared the news of the iconic green drink's return:

While you can’t always count on the Groundhog avoiding its shadow, or the weather getting warmer anytime soon… you can count on Shamrock Shake Season to make you feel like spring has sprung.

Shamrock Shakes have been around for decades now, originally created in 1967 by Hal Rosen, a Connecticut McDonald’s Owner-Operator who made the drink for St. Patricks Day. Three years later it debuted in selected other locations, and now is nation, and world wide.

In addition to the brightly colored ice cream concoction on the menu, McDonald's will also bring back the fan-favorite Oreo Shamrock McFlurry. Think normal Oreo McFlurry, but minty and refreshing. It debuted last year during Shamrock Shake season and was so popular the restaurant chain had to bring it back.

McDonald’s Sr. Director of Culinary, Chad Schafer said that Shamrock Shake season marks the official start of spring:

We know this winter may feel longer than others so we’re thrilled to give customers something to look forward to by bringing both fan-favorites back to the menu this month.

The groundhog did predict six more weeks of winter this week, but apparently, he is wrong because Shamrock Shake season starts in less than two weeks. Let's just hope the ice cream machine isn't broken when we go to get one.
