ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud State University sorority is putting the needs of kids first.

Theta Phi Alpha is hosting an event, Capes for Kids. St. Cloud State students and the community are invited to come out Tuesday to make a superhero cape for a child in need.

Student organizer Hlee Xiong says a cape makes a child feel secure and strong.

"The inspiration for making the capes was to give the kids hope, strength and a strong imagination. And to be able to be a superhero."

Through the Enchanted Makeovers program the student group will be hosting the cape making event, in the Voyagers North room, in the Atwood Memorial Center from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Xiong says anyone attending is asked to bring a donation.

"To get in will be $2 or bring a [non-perishable] food donation."

All donations will be given to St. Cloud area food shelves and capes will be donated to children next spring through area programs.
