New Talent Helps SCSU Team Clinch State Cyber Competition Victory
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- The St. Cloud State University Cyber Competition Club brought home some hardware on January 31st when they won the Minnesota State Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.
It's the second year in a row the SCSU team won the statewide competition, despite six new members on the eight-person team.
The National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition is the largest college-level competition in the United States. It's designed to challenge students in protecting a business network under a cyberattack in real-world conditions. The competition puts the team in charge of running, maintaining, and defending a network infrastructure while simultaneously accounting for business needs.
The Huskies, who are coached by cybersecurity professor Dave Keller, will now compete in the Midwest Regional CCDC on March 20th and 21st. They'll be competing against state champions from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
