The Sartell volunteer fire department officially turned 100 years old on February 5. The department was started in 1920 and consisted of a small garage looking space.

According to the Sartell Historical Society, the first fire truck was a 1919 Ford Model T truck that cost $3,800.

The first citizens of Sartell to be elected to the department were; Lester McNeil as chief, Norris Sartell, M.L. Cole and William Sartell as Sub-Chiefs, Earl Sartell, Joe Sartell L.L. Sartell, Ripley Sartell, Marcus Sartell, Lee Pebeles, Harry McNeil, Al Green, Ralph Guptial, Harvey Johnson, M. Dezurik, Will Dahlmeir, Clarence Garding, Claude Schere, F.N. Sartell, Ben Garding and Gus Nelson.

Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum gave the department a shout out on his Facebook page.

The department also recognized their milestone on Facebook.
