Sartell Celebrating National Night Out On Aug. 3
The City of Sartell is participating in National Night out on Tuesday, August 3rd from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It's a great way to get to know the people in your neighborhood.
Residents are encouraged to get their neighborhoods together for a fun celebration. It's an annual event organized in partnership with local police departments to promote public safety and neighborhood camaraderie. The hope is to create a safer community.
According to a Facebook post from the Sartell Police Department, "Residents of Sartell are encouraged to turn on their porch lights and spend the evening outdoors, visiting with neighbors and public safety officials!"

Some neighborhoods organize fun activities and community potlucks. When I was a kid I loved National Night Out. My neighborhood would block off a section of the road and host a huge potluck in the middle of the street. I thought it was the coolest thing ever that I got to walk in the road by myself!
We'd always have someone from the police department stop out to our neighborhood, sometimes with a police dog, and give kids tours of their squad car. It was neat! The police department even let my brother try out their handcuffs. He was 4 at the time and still remembers it to this day.
If you'd like to participate, you can register your neighborhood with Sartell's police clerk, Amber Molitor. Her email is amber.molitor@sartellmn.com. You can also reach her by phone at 320-258-7353.
