It's going to be hot today. The kids may be bored and are going to want a cool treat. Here's a recipe to curb their treat cravings and a fun project for everyone.

I remember when I was a kid there was nothing more refreshing than running in the hose and having root beer floats. Here's a recipe for root beer float cupcakes that's sure to satisfy your sweet tooth and keep the kids busy at the same time.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. You'll need: A muffin pan, 24 cupcake papers, one 18.75 ounce box of white cake mix, 1 and 1/4 cups of root beer, two eggs, 1/4 cup of vegetable oil, 24 root beer barrel candies and 8 straws cut into thirds. In a bowl, beat cake mix, root beer, eggs and oil on low speed for 30 seconds and on high speed for two minutes. Line muffin tins with cupcake liners and fill about two thirds full. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Next, you need frosting! You'll need: four 1.3 ounce packets of Dream Whip and two cups of ice cold root beer. Beat the Dream Whip and root beer until stiff peaks form. Use a piping bag to frost the cupcakes. Top with the candy and insert a straw.
