RICE -- You may be told to slow down the next time you drive through Rice.

The city recently received a Stalker SAM Radar Trailer to help address speed related issues on city streets.

Police Chief Ross Hamann says the trailer will be very useful to improve traffic and pedestrian safety throughout the city.

The trailer also includes software which will give the city the ability to collect and analyze traffic data.

The piece of equipment cost just over $7,500. Hamann says funding came from an OSHA grant ($3500.00) and donations by local businesses, Rice Lions Club ($921.00) and organizations, Rice Fire Association ($2800.00) and Benton Telecommunications Foundation ($600.00).
