Starring: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Seth Rogen, Jason Bateman

Summary: The team that brought you “Hot Fuzz” and “Shaun of the Dead” have done it again. This time they take on aliens in their homage to Steven Spielberg and all things nerdy. But don’t be fooled, this is not your typical close encounter.

Graeme (Pegg) and Clive (Frost) are two British nerds on a trip of a lifetime. After attending Comic-Con they decide to rent an RV and visit all the U.F.O. hot-spots in the U.S. The last thing either of them expected was to literally run into an actual alien. Paul (Rogen) is a foul-mouthed, pot-smoking alien who is on the run from the government, with Agent Zoil (Bateman) hot on his trail. After the initial shock of the encounter wears off, Paul convinces Clive and Graeme to help him get home. Along the way they encounter many obstacles and hilarity ensues.

Though this movie isn’t as good as “Hot Fuzz” (in my humble opinion) it is still very funny and delightful. I especially loved all the cameos and nerdy references throughout the film and Jason Bateman is always a favorite of mine. If you’re a fan of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost then Paul is a must-see.  Grade: B

Trivia: In the scene where Paul is discussing the movie ET with Steven Spielberg over the phone, the voice of Spielberg is the man himself.

Rated: R – For vulgar language, sexual references, and drug use
