My wife’s sister from North Carolina will be visiting later this week and in anticipation of her first visit to Minnesota, I’ve been looking for some things to do while she’s here.

One of the places I go to check out for things going on is Thrifty Minnesota. This site connects to a lot of cost-efficient things to do, hence the name Thrifty Minnesota.

I came across something Halloween related that doesn't work for us, but might be perfect for you and your family, it’s the Pumpkin Walk in New Brighton.

This Friday between 5 and 8pm, walk the path at Veterans Park as it will be illuminated by the glow of pumpkins. You and your family are encouraged to put on your costumes and walk the path.

Once you’re done with your walk, there will be a DJ spinning fun music to dance to, and there is a trunk or treat event planned as well.

If you’re feeling pretty good about your pumpkin carving and decorating abilities, you and your child can join in the fun of the Pumpkin Walk Carving Party at the New Brighton Community Center.

Carvers of all skill levels and abilities are encouraged to participate in the carving party. But there will be something new this year for the party, a Master Pumpkin Carver will be on hand to offer tips and tricks to have a most awesome looking pumpkin.

The cost is $10 per person (child) and $5 for each additional family member. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

If you have kids that are dying to wear their Halloween costumes, this is a perfect opportunity.
