ST. CLOUD -- Police have arrested a 16-year-old for the stabbing death of a St. Cloud man early Friday morning.

The St. Cloud Police Department says the incident happened just after 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of 6th Ave S and 5th St. S in St. Cloud.

A group of four males were walking by a house and got into a verbal exchange with the victim, 20-year-old Davee Devose of St. Cloud, before the situation escalated into a fight.

During the fight, Devose was stabbed once in the chest with a knife. Life-saving efforts by paramedics were unsuccessful and Devose was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators found the knife about a half block away from the scene and officers were able to track down the juvenile suspect in an alley in the 900 block of 5th Ave S in St. Cloud.

When in custody, the 16-year-old from St. Cloud confessed to stabbing Devose and is facing possible charges of 2nd degree murder, 2nd degree assault, and curfew violation.

Investigation is ongoing to locate the others involved in the incident.
