A new survey done by a rental and housing website lists the top ten places to go if you're looking for a little romance and family fun.

Austin, Texas - This southern city calls itself the Live Music Capital of the World. With bars and cafes all over the place, you'll never run out of places to eat or drink and who knows? You may discover the next big music star before everybody else.

Raleigh/Durham, NC - One of the most affordable cities to live in is also friendly, has a temperate climate and tons of outdoor recreation opportunities and is great for families with kids.

Dallas Texas - If you love shopping and your husband likes sports, head south. The kids will love Six Flags over Texas, the Dallas Aquarium and the Dallas Arboretum.

Kansas City, Missouri - Hear me out. It has the charming small town feel with big city opportunities plus it was named one Top Budget Travel Destinations for 2012. The Kauffman Center just opened, the Sea Life Aquarium is beautiful and LEGOLAND Discovery Center is opening in May.

Houston, Texas - With the Houston Space Museum, Downtown Aquarium, Houston Zoo and the Houston Childrens' Museum, plus world class cuisine and fine arts, there is something for everyone in one of the most culturally diverse cities in America. This one is also budget friendly thanks to Houston CityPASS.

Denver, Colorado - Adrenaline seekers head to the mile high city for the great skiing, but there are other things to do. The Cherry Creek Shopping District and 16th Street Mall are popular shopping destinations, you can also visit the U.S. Mint and Colorado brews more beer than any place in the country.

Minneapolis, MN - I'm partial to this one as I hail from the Twin Cities. The theater and performing arts are alive and well in the City of Lakes, there is also shopping a plenty, you can take tours of historic landmarks, Minnehaha Falls as well as Underwater World which is so cool.

Phoenix, Arizona - Warm weather year round, mountains and vistas make this a beautiful family destination. Of course, there are tons of outdoor activities like hiking, biking and hot air balloon tours. If you have kids, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, the Arizona Science Center and the Phoenix Zoo are must-dos.

Washington, D.C. - The epicenter of American history, whether you're an urban explorer, knowledge seeker or history buff, you'll never run out of things to do in D.C. I can name ten free or almost free things to do here in Minnesota, but Washington D.C. has 100 Free or Almost Free Things to Do plus a super efficient public transportation system.

Baltimore, Maryland - Architecture, performing arts, museums and American History are all wonderful things about this city, however Baltimore is a foodie paradise. The City of Baltimore also has 30 Free Things to Do.
