Petition Started To ‘Bring Back’ Bathroom Doors At MN High School
A Central Minnesota community has seen an online petition emerge to bring back bathroom doors at its high school. The petition, which also asks the school district to 'ensure that all students can safely and comfortably meet their basic needs during the school day' has nearly 200 signatures.
Becker High School Removes Bathroom Doors?
The online petition shared on social media is asking that the restroom doors removed by the school be reinstated. The petition claims that "Since the removal of bathroom doors, many students have reported feeling uncomfortable and unsafe using the restrooms. As a result, some students are refusing to use the bathroom during school hours and are waiting until they return home."

The petition also claims that the remaining stall doors inside the bathrooms are either broken or have "faulty latches, allowing others to see inside while they are in use."
I was able to find an online social media post from January 12th about the bathroom doors, which also featured a picture.
Why Were The Doors Removed?
I've reached out to Becker's High School Principal David Kreft and Superintendent Jeremy Schmidt via email, asking about the bathroom door situation and what caused the doors to be removed, but until I hear back from either individuals or another member of the school district, I'll have to go off what the online petition and an online social media post state are the reason.
The online petition from ipetitions.com states that vandalism or misconduct is the reason for the removal of the doors.
"...the school may be attempting to address vandalism or misconduct, it is clear that a small number of students are responsible for damaging bathroom equipment."
The Becker School District serves "approximately 3,000 students, represents more than 10,000 taxpayers, and employs over 500 dedicated staff members," according to a social media post and email sent from the Becker School District Superintendent, Dr. Jeremy Schmidt January 13th.
