My first experience at the Minnesota State Fair was fun, but I spent a lot of unnecessary money. I paid a hefty fee to park my vehicle close to the fairgrounds. The second year, I decided not to pay so much for parking and walk to the fair...in the heat because I didn't know about the free park and ride system. I know better now! I park, and then ride free in the air conditioning.

Free rides to the fair run regularly from 8 a.m. to midnight at various locations throughout the Twin Cities area from now through Labor Day. There are several bus routes in Arden Hills, Roseville, St. Paul, Minneapolis and more.

You can follow the Minnesota State Fair hashtag #MSFParking on Twitter to get updates on the park and ride lots. You don't have to have Twitter to see their posts.

You can also download their free Metro Transit Brochure, see a park and ride map and check out the bus schedule on their website.

Save your money and your energy--take advantage of the free park and ride system...it's free!
