Am I crazy, and the only one who is thinking this?  I don't think that I am, because I have seen some silly memes on the subject, so obviously others feel this way too.

I completely understand that when servers are working in a regular restaurant, they need to be tipped, or it is at least expected.  Especially when they don't necessarily get paid what others do becuase of said tip.  But some of this has gotten out of control.

We were all tipping more during the pandemic for obvious reasons.  We were all trying to help out the industry.  And it was the right thing to do.  Everyone needed kind of a hand up, not necessarily a hand out.  But they were working... a lot less than usual, so I call that a hand up.

But when the coffee places, other fast food places, basically anywhere where you order your food while standing up, or in your car, a tip should not be asked for.  It's ridiculous.  And I don't know if everyone feels like this, but I feel almost guilty when they hand out the credit card thing out the drive through window, and then say "there are a couple of questions at the bottom".  I think they may feel awkward bringing attention to that as well.

So, here is the solution I have found to take all of that awkwardness away.  Pay in cash!  This eliminates the question thing regarding a tip on the credit card machine.  Then, if you want to tip the change for such a small purchase, you have that option.  And many times I will.  But they dollar ask when the coffee is already kind of high buck is just dumb. It's a money-grab.  I don't think that they fast food and coffee industry is paid the lesser amount like some servers in restaurants are.  Besides, those servers actually wait on you.  Not just take an order, put it in a bag and move on.

So maybe that's the rule, if you order standing up, in your car, or your food comes in a bag, no tip.

Is this just me?  Maybe I've got some bad karma coming my way for this one.
