Busy Shopping Weekend Hit By Target’s Online Service Issues
All systems are normal at Target stores after a weekend hiccup affected online ordering, delivery, and pickup services.
A post on Target’s “X” account Friday morning made shoppers aware of “intermittent problems with our digital service,” but did not affect in-store shopping. Later Friday afternoon, Target announced the problem had been resolved and officials were working to find any orders that were affected.
Terrible Timing for Target.
The outage comes on a very busy weekend for all retailers, but insiders are watching Target after a series of disappointing earnings reports. Target has announced they expect a slight decline in sales over the fourth quarter of 2025 as shoppers concentrate on essential purchases and will spend over $2 billion in 2026 upgrading both the store and digital shopping experiences.
Target reported flat sales traffic on Black Friday, while competitors like Wal-Mart announced small increases in sales. In addition, Target has been the subject of several boycotts and poorly received promotional events over the past year that dragged sales down.
