How would you handle not being able to talk for two or more weeks?

I don't know if I could do it. These days it seems like more stars than ever are on vocal rest or are having vocal cord surgery.

Meghan Trainor just canceled several shows due to a hemorrhage (YIKES!) on her vocal cords. Sam Smith recently had vocal cord surgery and this week Miranda Lambert canceled an upcoming concert due some serious vocal cord inflammation. Cancelation of shows does not come cheap.

When Adele shelved 17 shows due to a polyp on her vocal cord it was an estimated loss of up to 10 million big ones. That’s dollars people. So why are more and more artists canceling shows due to vocal injuries?

Many in the biz think it’s a sign of singers being overworked. With record sales down touring is an artist’s best chance to make a buck. It’s now common for artist to tour and record simultaneously. All that overuse and strain on a singers vocal cords can be extremely damaging.
