New Music Recap: Halsey and Backstreet Boys
New music from Halsey and Backstreet Boys is playing now on Mix 94.9!
Just over a month since its release, Halsey's latest single "Without You" is one of the latest adds to Mix 94.9 as the most-added song to Hot Adult Contemporary stations around the country. It's her first solo track since the release of her 2017 album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, and lyrics point towards her break-up with former beau G-Eazy.
In an interview with Beats 1's Zane Lowe, Halsey shared that "Without You" is a particularly personal song to her, so personal, in fact, that she wrote it under her real name Ashley. “It’s like this is really me talking about my life. It kind of gave me like an existential crisis as an artist a little bit, because I’ve prided myself on being an artist who’s authentic and writes about her life and all that stuff. And then when I made this and I felt just how bad it hurt.”

Another add to Mix 94.9 this week is the latest release from the Backstreet Boys -- "Chances." It's the second single from their upcoming album DNA, which they announced early November along with a world tour by the same name. AJ Mclean told Billboard that he believes this album will be one of their best yet, and he takes extra special pride in the music video for "Chances" as he directed it himself.
