ST. CLOUD -- It looks like the new high school will stick with the old one's name, albeit an updated version.

At the District 742 board meeting Wednesday night, the new high school naming committee presented five names to the board.

The names are, listed least popular to the committee to the most popular: St. Cloud Neenah Creek High School, St. Cloud Technological High School, Granite Creek High School, keeping the Technical High School name, or an official change to St. Cloud Tech High School.

The naming committee recommended St. Cloud Tech High School, to keep attached to the century's worth of history at the current school and make the unofficial common name of "Tech" official.

Those on the naming committee were current Tech officials, St. Cloud city representatives, parents, and students.

Cost was a large concern of the committee, and they mentioned that calling it "Tech High School" would ensure the district saves money during the name change.

The school board gave a "nod" to Tech High School, and will vote on it officially at their next meeting.
