My sister's graduation party is this weekend and my parents are serving up a dessert bar. My sister really wants a bunch of different types of desserts and other sweet snacks for her guests. My mom asked me to help out by making my monster cookie bar recipe.

Of course I agreed to help out...and naturally thought it would be a good recipe to share with you--especially if you're making dessert for a large group of people. My monster cookie recipe is the perfect treat for a family reunion, work potluck, graduation party, bridal shower, baby shower or just a fun summer backyard BBQ.

This recipe will serve approximately 100 people.

  • 2 cups of butter, softened (4 sticks)
  • 4 cups of brown sugar (about one whole package)
  • 2 cups of peanut butter (approximately two jars)
  • 8 eggs
  • 4 tsp vanilla
  • 7 cups of flour
  • 4 tsp salt
  • 7 cups of quick cooking oats
  • 3 cups of milk chocolate chips (1 1/2 packs)
  • 4 cups of M&Ms (2 bags)

I divided the recipe in half because my mixer couldn't handle all of these ingredients at once.

First, make sure you're preheating your oven to 350 F. You'll want to make sure you've got four 9x13 pans ready for your recipe. Don't forget to grease the pans because this recipe will stick.

In a large mixer bowl stir in the brown sugar and butter. Then, add in your peanut butter, eggs and vanilla. Slowly stir in the flour, baking soda and salt.

Next stir in the quick oats, M&Ms and milk chocolate chips. Make sure to stir these ingredients in by hand as to keep the shape of the M&M in tact.

Depending on your oven, it should take about 16-20 minutes to cook two pans at a time. You'll know the bars are done when the edges start to look golden brown. You can also do the tooth pick test. It's important that you don't over bake the bars. You'll want them to be a little chewy on the inside.

Cut each pan into 24 squares. This recipe will make 4 pans and yield 96 bars.
